Self initiated work in progress about being homesick.
I’m Danish, and since I am currently living in the Netherlands on my third year, homesickness is a feeling I am very familiar with.
One time, when I was leaving Denmark once again to go back to my school here in the Netherlands, I was extra sad. A member of my family, who was driving me to the station I was departing from, said something along the lines of “try building a home within yourself”.
This sentence stuck with me and inspired me to make these drawings and watercolors, where I imagined myself as part human, part house, part snail perhaps, always carrying my home with me: sometimes comforted, sometimes weighed down.
I think it’s going to turn into a comic.
It also became some prints.
